A first class opportunity has arisen for a Resident Construction Site Supervisor/Manager to join the Central Engineering Department of a leading European provider of energy services to local authorities and companies who offer customers end-to-end multi-energy solutions, applying their skills to deliver a comprehensive package of water, energy, waste management and transport services.
As Resident Site Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day site management of the construction site for a large construction project.
In particular, you will be responsible for the site induction of all subcontractors, the checking of method statements and risk assessments and ensuring all contractors follow agreed method statements and always wear appropriate PPE. You will also ensure that all contractors have the appropriate skills for the tasks and that their records are up to date. You will organise and chair weekly Health and Safety meetings with the contractors’ representatives and you will attend Health and Safety meetings with the site Principal Contractor as reasonably required. From time to time you will be responsible for straightforward pre-arranged quality control and the monitoring of quantities. You will also be responsible for reporting hazards, dangerous occurrences and accidents and you must have a clear understanding emergency procedures on site and first aid
You will have control over site access, storage and laydown facilities, shared site facilities (offices, toilets, messrooms) and site boundary fences and signage.
Regular contact with clients at all levels will be an integral part of the position and you will be expected to follow agreed client site procedures and to report to agreed Diageo systems.
Ideally qualified in a trade to an appropriate City and Guild standard, you will have a full driving licence. You will also have substantial experience as a construction site supervisor/manager, experience of managing subcontractors carrying out multidisciplinary works (civils, mechanical, electrical) and experience of working within a quality management system. Experience of managing measured quantities subcontracts would be a distinct advantage.
You will be knowledgeable in the requirements of the CDM regulations 2007 and must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. You will be proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project etc) or equivalent. Experience of site supervision in the power or heavy engineering industry with a knowledge of the design, build, operate maintain approach is desirable. A track record of suprvising turnkey contracts whilst not strictly essential would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of modern energy generation and utilisation practice including renewable and green energy schemes would be ideal.
